I downloaded the Vista Beta2 and also have this same error after entering the product key supplied; "Setup cannot validate your product key". I burned the ISO image to DVD to run the setup and the burn process reported NO ERRORS. Help please. Thanks.

Setup cannot validate your product key
I also encountered such case, but I installed vista by daemon. When I entered the product key, it also said "setup cannot validate your product key", then I tried another new product key, it also failed. why? help. thanks

Did you use product keys supplied by Microsoft, or a "key-gen" program? Try using the Microsoft-supplied key.

I love the double talk from the moderators.
Just to make it clear. I have
1. Two Activation Keys sent from Microsoft. 2. Created DVD using ISO. 3. Starts like a charm 4. Get to screen enter activation code..
5. You'll like this....... NEITHER KEY WORKED. IF I TYPED IT. CUT AND PASTED IT. TYPED IN THE NUMBER WITH WITHOUT DASH.
Error Message.... "Setup cannot validate your product key" ETC>>>ETC Re try same message..
By the way tried this on three computers, created 4 DVD, incase they were corrupt. NOTHING
I have been beta testing for years.
THE CODES DON'T WORK....
SO if someone ( with some smarts, and is not going tocome back and say. " wel l just type it in and hit enter...
I sned Microsft and e-mail and they direct me to the forum.. nice.
OK.... You have aproblem with installing VISTA Beta 2. Write it up.
Thank you. Fred

Yes, my product key was supplied by Microsoft via e-mail. I actually registered twice and got 2 keys, neither of which work. I have tried installing from booting off the DVD, and also tried installing while booted in my XP install. I took a look at the logfile created during setup (C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setupact.log) and below are the failure notifications....
Info [0x060122] IBS Callback_Productkey_Validate: Entry Info [0x060124] IBS Callback_Productkey_Validate: Validating Product Key Warning IBS Callback_Productkey_Validate: Product key did not successfully pass validation. Help!

I'm getting the same problem, i've burned the iso to a dvd twice, tried downloading the iso again, and got two different keys. But when i enter the key's i get the infamous "Setup cannot validate your product key" error. Is there actually anyone with Microsoft that can help, i'm assuming that this is a problem on microsoft's side, considering that many people are having the same problem by looking at the recent posts.

I can install vista now. I find the problem will appear when it is installed by virtual driver. Now I burned into DVD, and it succeed.^_^
